Places

Working with the private, public and third sector together with town centre stakeholders we lead projects which revitalise, relaunch and build resilient town centres.

We co-design strategies, commercial concepts and developments that release the social and economic value of public and private assets.

Our work supports enterprise and creates opportunities for businesses to thrive and engages businesses around high streets. We offer strategic advice on markets and bring buildings back into use, identifying opportunities in empty or underused premises and ensuring they stack up commercially and have the right partnership in place to succeed.

With partners, we develop place brands and marketing campaigns that engage, connecting people with their place.

Led by The Assembly Line founder, Diane Cunningham, we get to know a place, bringing together the best team for any single project and ensuring the outcome is tailored and practical and that recommendations are deliverable.

Our team is flexible, bringing together the best experience for each project, providing open and honest feedback to develop meaningful actions.

We work with local authorities, developers, housing providers, architects and others who want to create resilient and vibrant spaces that benefit everyone.

Our services

TOWN CENTRE ACTIVATION

RETAIL & MARKETS CONSULTANCY

COMMERCIAL & OPERATIONS

We work on projects that activate high streets, bringing buildings back into use, creating meanwhile uses, evening activity to extend opening times and supporting seasonal events. We can help establish the need for a business forum, a BID or co-ordinated place marketing.

We run consultations, create strategies and review operations and policies for indoor and outdoor markets, helping to set them up or relaunch them so they flourish. We also review public spaces to identify opportunities for markets and events.

At the pre-design and build stage of building projects, we develop options, test feasibility, and build a commercial and operational model. This can be for market halls, empty retail units or historic building which have the potential to be repurposed or adapted post refurbishment.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

We are specialists in non-public engagement focusing on developing relationships with local authorities, developers and businesses. From large, corporate stakeholders and institutions to small businesses on high streets and single/family-owned market traders, we develop a tailored approach for each group.

With strong marketing expertise in the team, we develop place campaigns and content to support events and markets, reviewing existing messaging and online content platforms. We also create marketing and comms plans to support local authority teams or advise on the best approach when resources are limited.

We manage complex projects from park operations and seasonal events to refurbishing buildings and statutory consultations. With many moving parts we ensure plans are delivered on time and in budget. We work inside organisations short term or sit outside as a critical friend.
